House of Prayer Savannah

On Fire Missions is ready to examine the House of Prayer Savannah church.  There are multiple congregations of this church in the premiere coastal city of Savannah, GA. The church, which is sometimes known by HOPCC, has members that are passionate about missions.  The majority of one of the church’s congregations went on a missionary trip to Israel in November 2019.  Moreover, the churches are active in local outreach ministries to the Savannah metropolitan city and the Hunter Army Airfield Base’s military community.

Spiritual Heritage of Savannah, GA

Savannah, GA, is one of the oldest cities in America.  James Oglethorpe of England founded it in 1733.  Soon thereafter, the colonial city flourished and drew many colonists looking for a better life.  One of the colonists was John Wesley, the Methodist church founder, who lived in Savannah and served as an Anglican minister.  During his time in Savannah, he grew in faith and later traveled back to England to become a mighty revivalist in the British Isles.  Savannah, GA, held a special place in John Wesley’s heart.  Savannah has a rich spiritual history, and the House of Prayer Savannah has continued in this colonial city’s spiritual heritage.  The church, through the years, has won many souls to God.  Many of its members have grown in faith, just like John Wesley, and have entered the Christian ministry and are now able ministers of the Gospel.  Broken lives have been restored!  Divided families have been reunited!  Souls that were shackled to the chains of darkness have been set free by the life-changing message of the cross that is preached at this church.  On Fire Missions is enthused to report on this church and the many others in the Savannah area making a difference, one soul at a time.  The Bible declares in John 6:37,  “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (NIV)

House of Prayer Savannah Missionary trip to Israel

A large team of church members from the House of Prayer Savannah church went to Israel on a missionary trip in November of 2019.  The missionary team included families and children that went to the Holy Land.  It was a missionary experience of a lifetime!  The missionary team traveled extensively through Jerusalem.  The team had the opportunity to stay in a Catholic monastery on the Mt of Olives.  The monastery is a home away from home for many of the HOPCC missionaries that have been to Jerusalem.  The monastery offers prayer rooms, a dining hall, accommodating living quarters, and spacious courtyards and gardens.  The Savannah, GA missionary team spent a great deal of time in the Old City.  The team prayed at the Western Wall, visited churches and synagogues, and ministered to countless people, as people took note of this treasured type of people in the Holy Land! The Bible says in Exodus  19:5,  “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine” (NIV).  The sacred texts also declare in Isaiah 56:7,  these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (NIV) This verse of scripture has been partially fulfilled from the past to the present. The missionaries from House of Prayer Savannah experienced that as they fellowshipped, prayed with, and encouraged brothers and sisters from all nations at the Western Wall.  You can see the wonderful pictures of this trip at HOPCC missionary trip to Israel. Just click on the button below.   One exciting aspect that On Fire Missions discovered about this missionary trip is the welcoming arms that met the missionary team from the many Jewish people in Jerusalem.  The team was invited to synagogues, sabbath meals, and other Jewish places of prayer.

Military outreach ministry

Not only is the House of Prayer Savannah church involved in overseas missionary trips, but the church labors abundantly in local ministries in the Savannah, GA, and the Hunter Army Airfield military community.  The church has a servicemen’s home ministry with a Christian environment ideal for servicemen and servicewomen away from home.  At the servicemen’s home, Bible studies are done in which people can ask questions.  There are home-cooked meals and excellent Christian fellowship.  The church is there to provide support and encouragement to military personal which often get deployed.  On Fire Missions gives this church a star in their support and ministry to HAAF military community.  Serving in the Armed Forces can at times be stressful and perilous, and this church, along with other military-minded churches, has opened its doors in love to the men and women of the Armed Forces.  The Bible says in Proverbs 18:10,  “The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (NIV) People are looking for a “safe place” where they can find a refuge for their souls.  A “safe place” where they can bring their families and loved ones.  Over the years, House of Prayer Savannah has been a “fortified tower” and a “safe place” for men and women from all walks of life.
